Our origin story. Why we started, who we are, and the vision that fuels us.
Who we are
Path 14 is a non-profit based in The Netherlands that is dedicated to producing in-depth and authentic documentaries and investigations about the realities of migration on a mission to advocate for a humane approach and policies for migrants and refugees in Europe.
Path 14 is run by a collective of migrants who have a long record in the media field and experienced the realities and dynamics of the migration and border system.
Our dual approach of in-depth reporting and storytelling combined with advocacy and support works to create a comprehensive and impactful approach to supporting migrants and refugees. This approach not only addresses the immediate challenges posed by the current political landscape but also works towards long-term systemic change, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
Vision statement
At Path 14, we envision a world where migration is met with compassion, understanding, and respect. Through our authentic documentaries and investigative reporting, we strive to illuminate the true experiences of migrants and refugees, advocating for humane policies and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society. Driven by the voices and expertise of migrants, we aim to challenge and transform the existing narratives and systems, promoting long-term systemic change and ensuring that every individual’s journey is acknowledged and valued.

Mission Statement
There are currently 8.1billion people in the world and a staggering 1 in 69 of them are forcibly displaced and experience extremely harsh and dangerous conditions. Due to continuous and intensified wars, dictatorships, conflicts and ecological disasters, there is no glimmer of hope that forced displacement will abate unless deep and meaningful structural changes are made. At the same time, Europe is extending its borders and cooperative partnerships with authoritarian regimes such as those in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and other countries in an attempt to outsource the border and migration control/responsibility without addressing the root causes of migration and asylum. This war on migrants only intensifies harm and exploitation and pushes people from the Global South to take even more dangerous and deadly routes across land and sea.

With the rise of far-right movements the situation for refugees and migrants is rapidly worsening inside European countries. Across Europe the cost of living is spiraling and the distribution of economic hardship of rising prices and falling wages hits those at the bottom of society the hardest. In addition, long maintained false racist narratives and the use of migration issues for political gains at the expense of migrant rights dominates most national and European political debates.
We have now reached an urgent moment in which we must coordinate efforts to protect and support migrants and refugees’ rights especially in light of the recent election wins of right-wing political movements across various European countries, specifically in the European Parliament elections. The rise of the far-right and neo-fascist movements pose a real and significant threat, not only to migrants but wider human rights and universal freedoms.
This shift in the political landscape threatens to exacerbate existing prejudices and fuel discriminatory policies, making it crucial to have dedicated platforms that can amplify the voices of immigrants and provide them with a means to share their experiences and struggles.
Resisting dehumanization is essential to centering a migrant’s experience. Through presenting the stories of migrants with authenticity and depth, our work challenges stereotypes and promotes a more nuanced understanding of migration. This is particularly vital in the current climate, where misinformation and xenophobic rhetoric are rampant.
